Alaskan Brewing Company - Alaskan WinterMar 10, 2010 | 8:15 am
From time to time we are fortunate enough to receive "samples" from
various breweries across the country, this weeks beer came all the
way from Juneau Alaska to Savannah, Georgia! I'm talking about
Alaskan Winter from the Alaskan Brewing Company. Described as an
Olde English Ale, this malty copper colored ale has a surprise
flavor you don't find in many brews -Spruce Tips! We were certainly
impressed with this one, so much so, that we have a few more
Alaskan beers to review in the coming weeks.

Coming to a TV near you...Beer America?Jan 29, 2010 | 10:04 pm
It's always been my dream for Beer America to become a television
series, so as NATPE kicks off this week, we're officially shopping
it to networks! I originally wrote the pilot for this series back
in 2003, and I feel this just might be our year. The show has
evolved over time as the American Craft beer industry continues to
grow, and there are so many directions a show like this can take,
from food, travel, personalities, festivals, home brewing, brewery
highlights, and the list goes on and on! So thanks to everyone who
has supported Beer America TV the website, we're not going
anywhere!! Stay tuned, you just might see Beer America on the air
this fall.

Porkslap Pale Ale, Ep. 89Jan 29, 2010 | 10:04 pm
OK, so I'm walking down the beer aisle and I catch a glance at a six pack of cans with 2 pigs bumping bellies, so I say to myself, I gotta try this, it's either going to be really good or really bad right? The beer we're talking about this week is lovingly call Porkslap from Butternuts Beer and Ale in upstate New York! Brewed with Crystal hops and a touch of fresh ginger, it proves to be quite a nice session beer. Distributed by Tubemogul.
2009 Craft Beer PicksJan 29, 2010 | 10:04 pm
2009 was another great year for the American Craft Beer movement, and although we don't like to say we have our "favorites", we do have particular beers that have left quite an impression on us for the given year. 2008 found us all enjoying similar beers, but 2009 found us liking vastly different ones! Whether you agree or disagree, that's the beauty of our choice of beers today - we have a choice.

Weyerbacher Double SimcoeMar 10, 2010 | 5:15 amI've said it too many times to remember, but the Imperial IPA is my favorite style of beer. So when I got the Weyerbacher Double Simcoe IPA in the mail I was really excited to add it to my review queue as soon as possible.
?lfabrikken PorterMar 8, 2010 | 5:15 amPorters are slowly becoming one of my favorite styles of beer. Not only are they in the stout family, but they have a smokiness that I love as well.
Hair of the Dog AdamMar 5, 2010 | 5:15 amI firmly believe that intuition is a very strong thing, and I knew I would love Hair of the Dog's beers way before I ever had my first sip. Until this video I had only had the Ruth, which is their pale ale.
Avery Black TotMar 3, 2010 | 5:15 amOn paper, Avery Brewing Company has crafted one hell of a beer ? an imperial stout aged in Gosling's Bermuda rum barrels. Of course when I saw the beer hit my area I didn't even think twice to grab one.
Lagunitas Hop StoopidMar 1, 2010 | 5:15 amI've witnessed at least ten people write or say "I can't get Pliny the Elder in my neck of the woods; so what tastes similar but is much easier to get?" My response to that has always been Lagunitas Hop Stoopid. Now.
Russian River SupplicationFeb 25, 2010 | 5:15 pmWOW! 50 episodes! See them all listed out here. Clearly this is a small milestone for me.
Rogue Hazelnut NectarFeb 24, 2010 | 6:15 amI love hazelnuts. If they aren't the best tasting nuts out there, then they're at least the best smelling when roasted in the oven.
Tr?egs Nugget Nectar (Redux)Feb 22, 2010 | 5:15 amToday's session (or redux) is more of a "set the record straight" video than a review. Not long ago, I reviewed the Tr?egs Nugget Nectar (seen here) that I had got in a recent trade.

Coronado Hoppy DazeFeb 16, 2010 | 10:15 pmIt should be painfully obvious by now that I'm a hophead. The Imperial IPA is without question my favorite style of beer, and California is unquestionably ahead of the pack when it comes to producing them.

Three Floyds Dreadnaught AleFeb 16, 2010 | 10:15 amHere I review one of the better Double / Imperial IPAs that I?ve has in a while. Definitely well balanced for the style, especially for a beer that clocks in at 99 IBUs and 9.
Barry's All Grain IPA RecipeFeb 15, 2010 | 10:15 amAfter not doing the mash correctly and therefore not achieving the ABV and malt character that I aimed for I?d like to see how the recipe would come out if a more experienced homebrewer brewed it.
